RELEASE / DISTRIBUTION

Download & Release Status

There is no public xHunOS image yet. This page tracks exactly what the first release will contain, the hardware it will target and the ways you will be able to boot it.

Current statusComing soon · kernel v0.2 in progress

The kernel, xLang toolchain and DaoFS are under active development. No ISO, installer or beta channel is public. When a build is ready, it will be announced here and on the hardware page.

Please do not use unofficial builds

There are no mirrored images, torrents or third-party installers. A system that runs everything at Ring 0 should only be booted from a source you trust.

What the first public release will include

Bootable xHunOS image

A self-contained system image with the Ring-0 kernel, 640×480 window manager and core tools.

xLang shell and compiler

The interactive REPL that compiles source to native machine code in memory, with the standard library and ZAsm layer.

DaoFS storage tools

Formatting and inspection utilities for contiguous 2048-byte sector volumes.

Native application suite

Divination, BaZi ephemeris, breath pacing, guqin synthesis and the DolDoc journal.

Technical documentation

The architecture whitepaper and xLang specification in offline-readable form.

Planned hardware requirements

CPUx86-64, bare metal
MemoryPhysical RAM mapped 1:1, no swap and no paging
Display640×480 framebuffer
StorageRaw SPI flash, 2048-byte sectors
NetworkNone required or supported by the kernel

Planned ways to run xHunOS

QEMU (planned)

A virtual machine image for evaluation on an existing computer. This is the lowest-risk way to try the system.

Bare metal x86-64 (planned)

Write the image to a USB device and boot directly into Ring 0. Hardware support will be limited to documented chipsets.

Tianming Box

The first production deployment: a wooden, air-gapped device built for hardware-entropy divination.

Release FAQ

When will xHunOS be released?+

No date is announced. The kernel is at v0.2 and status updates are published as work completes rather than as deadlines.

Will there be a cloud or mobile version?+

No. xHunOS is designed for local, air-gapped hardware; a hosted or mobile port would contradict the architecture.

Can I build it from source?+

Source distribution has not been announced yet. Build instructions will be published with the first public release.

Learn the architecture first

The whitepaper and the xLang specification describe the system in detail, including the parts that are still under construction.
